project. swimming pool wall and coping stones

date. Autumn 2020

location. Rawtenstall, Lancashire

specificationThis timeless custom rectangle swimming pool needed a facelift. Over time the wall adjacent to the pool had deteriorated and the textured pool coping stones had become loose and dangerous.

We first completed minor repairs to the existing mortar wall and built a smaller dry stone wall in front of it, doubling as a seating area.

Second we lifted all of the pool coping stones, power washed to clean and then began on establishing the corners.

Using a theodolite (precision optical instrument for measuring angles) to get the four corners at the same height. - the trickiest part. We then re-laid each coper and began pointing up.  This was best done from inside pool, earlier on in the year and we would have done this in shorts but it was getting into autumn so waders were the best choice.
